Body identified Halton Regional Police have identified the body of a man found in an equipment shed at the Croatian Centre on Winston Chur chill Boulevard as that of 59-year- old Matt of Charmaine Detective Sergeant Michael of the Halton Regional Police Service said ho foul play is suspected in the death of the man who was found In the shed Sept Mr Miklich had been reported missing to Peel Regional Police Aug 24 by a family he had lived with for 21 years When Halton Regional Police learned of the missing persons report they linked it to a fail-to- remain accident that occurred on the evening of Aug on Winston Churchill Boulevard said Srg The next day we found the vehicle abandoned in a field at the Centre and the damage to it was consistent to the previous days accident he said Police detectives searched the car and the immediate area finding no clue of the driver and returned Sept to broaden their search when they found the body said police suspected he was the missing per son but couldnt positively identify the body until Xrays were checked All police know about the man is that he was a private individual and recently retired from Canada where he worked in a management position Investigators are now at tempting to trace Mr Miklichs movements from Aug 23 and would appreciate any assistance available from friends or acquaintances who may have seen him or spoke to him Town staff to revise its proposed develop ment charge to appease the com munitys industrial and com mercial sectors dont go far enough say some businessmen and developers Doug Hills Chamber of- Commerce General Manager said Friday the revisions do nothing to encourage industrial or commercial growth Kent McCIure a member of the Hills Construction Association agreed with Mr Penrice describing the revisions as out of step with the competitive edge Hills needs to attract commercial and industrial develop ment to the area The development charge is the fee the Town requires developers to pay in order to build in Town The fee goes towards covering the cost of services such as roads needed Health boost The provincial government is giving health promotion ac tivities in a boost with In funding from the On tario antirecession program Health Minister Frances Lankin announced The Halton Healthy Lifestyles Coalition will use the funding to promote good nutrition in restaurants The increases Local developers balked at the charge saying the fee would further discourage industrial and commercial development from happening in Town They point out without a development charge there has been virtually no develop ment of this type for the past several years There is no way the situation will change if a fee is im posed they claim In an attempt to find a com promise Town staffs revision calls for the fee to be over a threeyear period In the first year the fee would be in the second 125 and in the third In defense of the revision Town Treasurer Ray King writes the concerns expressed by the business community and the need to main tain a healthy business climate must be balanced However there is a need to finance infrastructure expenditures related to growth without
