an nual Spirit Assembly Organized by the Student Athletic Associa tion it provided the en tire school with some great music sports team cheers in troductions and brief comments from coaches and the whole school united and showed its spirit in a fun filled rowdy hour The opening act featured the Rebels Blues Band They got the audience going by playing a cou ple of tunes The au dience clapped and sang along it was great John Manning presi dent of SAA introduced the teams and informed us this year there are coaches guiding the teams football field hockey volleyball basketball and more The first team to be introduced was the Senior Football Team Mr Clark introduced all the players and they had a little message for tho Senior Girls Field Hockey Team Were bet ter We all know that there will be some competition between those two teams The next team that was introduced was of course the Senior Girls field hockey team They too Town of Hills TENDER SIDEWALK SNOW CLEARING Sealed tenders clearly had a lit tle cheer at the end and they too maintained that they were better than the Seniors football team Next on line was another athletic group the Cheerleaders The groups consists of both guys and girls and they performed three stunts The music was a lit tle hard to hear technical dif ficulties but the act more than compensated that flaw Junior Boys Volleyball was then introduced and then a little musical interlude featuring the Rebels Blues Band In the bleachers students got all hyper and they did the wave a number of times they yelled and cheered they were having a good time On the gym floor each team sat in its own designated section and they too clapped and cheered for their fellow team members as well as their peers Everyone was divided into groups and people were both upstairs and downstairs although everyone was together there was still too much emptiness in the gym it would have been more effective had the whole school been down on the gym floor The sound system was not very good and there was some trouble understanding all the speakers but nothing is perfect right SA A then performed a little skit of their own which could be called an organized jumble Staff members as well as students hud dled close together and danced around for a few minutes this too was quite entertaining But now back to business more teams were introduced The senior and junior girls basketball teams baseball team Jr Girls field hockey team Jr Boys football there were a lot of grade nines on that team and it was nice to see them get involved in extracurricular activities The cross country team was also introduced Although that team is small in number it has got a lot of good athletes in it Coached by a new teacher Mr they seem to have a good grip on their performances this year The introductions seemed endless the number of students involved was incredible and the spirit and happiness that was generated for one short hour was indeed something to be proud of Rebels really do will be assisting with a market analysis of the book The student body will be surveyed so that next years book will reflect student wishes These same students will be soliciting support from local for this is that students enrolled in September This is more than we expected We also had new and unex pected enrolment in grades 10 and 11 causing considerable pressure in compulsory courses The board has allowed us to hire a teacher to help relieve some of the pressure Id like to officially welcome Mr John Ger- win to our staff In addition we are pleased that Mr Dan Hall will be teaching in
