split last week with a strong victory over Ajax Tuesday evening and a beating Friday night at the hands the Milton Merchants Tuesdays contest saw Georgetown jump ahead to a one goal lead in the first when Peter put one past net- minder at 1529 responded with a goal of their own three minutes later but at 934 Raider Bill McDonald scored and Georgetown took a lead into the second The Raiders exploded for five goals in the second period from Rob Scott Ian Ellis Peter Perrone and Trevor goal came with one second remaining in the second Georgetown increased lead in the final period with two goals by Trevor Brandt and Lewis Ajax were able to hit the scoreboard twice in the third but with another Raiders dinger by John Ventresca Georgetown skated to an easy win Fridays game was a complete turn around for Georgetown although the Raiders played a strong offensive game against Milton they were simply unable to find Milton netminder Jason Chip- mans weak spots and fell 51 Milton were able to rack up a two goal lead by the end of the first with goals by captain Shawn and Mike Murray who blasted a suc cessful shot past Carmelo Milton kept up their strong defen sive game during the next two periods and added to their lead with a goal from Joe Pedulla in the second and two third period goals from Clancy Seymour Georgetown was determined not to be shut out by Milton and with less than five minutes remaining Kevin scored on the powerplay Scott Humber and Hen- Wingenwroth assisted on Georgetownsonlygoal The Raiders will attempted to move up the Junior ladder tonight in Royal York and year Raider player Dave Osborne has left the Junior B club and joined the Acton Sabres the Herald learned last weekend Osborne a 17yearold defen- cemen left winger played with the AAA Hurricanes Major and Minor last season The Georgetown teen attends Acton High School According to sources close to the Sabres Osborne had been con sidering changing teams for two weeks prior to the move and met with Raider management Oct 28 to discuss his interests in playing with the Sabres Osborne was played in both Sabres games this past weekend He will be a welcomed addition to Actons defence which has been rather shaky this season Hurricane Hockey Midgets crush Burlington 82 Dave Osborne Sabres score overtime victory The Acton Sabres up and down season continued last weekend with an exciting overtime win against Fergus Friday night and a poun ding by Wingham Sunday evening It looked as though Acton would loss another home game early on Friday evening as Fergus ended the first with a lead and scored first in the second The Sabres rallied for three unan swered goals in the second period starting at 1635 when Mike Sutherland found the mark with assists from Jim English and Adam Hilts English and Hilts followed up with goals of their own Fergus was able to net one more to tie the score at three by the end of the second Acton took control of the final period Hilts scored another at 902 and Steve Henderson put one past netminder Dean Bower at It looked as though Acton would walk away with the win until 210 when Brad Oakes set Jeff Tomlin- son up for the first of two goals The pair net their second at 1 to send the game into overtime The Sabres lost their season opening in overtime against Hanover and were determined not to let it happen again Both teams had good scoring chances by at Jim English banked one in to end the game Sundays game was not much of a contest compared with two night earlier Acton was able to scored two goals one at of the first and the other at 1945 of the carried the play to St Catharines only to be thwarted by Bradon Ziraldo In a span of eight minutes in the second period St Catharines scored eight unanswered goals Anything that could go wrong did and after the onslaught then took control again but were once again thwarted by the net Ken Kosziwka broke Ziraldos shutout bid In game two the Hurricanes surrendered two third period goals to Team Toledo as the teams skated to a tie Mark Ken and Ian Davidson found the mark for the Hurricanes Their next opponent was Hamilton Longshoremen last years Ontario Midget Air Canada top representative Halton rose to the challenge with a solid 30 win as Kevin Gace registered the shutout Jamie led the offence with a pair of goals and Mike McPhail added a single The Hurricanes then faced off against the undefeated home team Oshawa The game see sawed back and forth and after two periods Oshawa a 21 edge to the room com pliments of two power play goals Jim ODriscoll notched Haltons lone goal in the first period Needing five goals in the final period to advance to the playoff round left their defensive assignments to press for goals and capitalized with three late markers to seal a 51 victory The
