residents We have the environmentalists fighting with the town fathers We have groups such as FOAD saying our council doing enough In its defence the town must work within the law It may not react fast enough on some issues to satisfy all its critics but to our knowledge no one presently sitting on town coun cil is an advocate of the dump Lets sit back and put the issue into its proper per spective All the action and energy we are putting out against our council may well be better spent in working closer with council Keep the in fighting up and we will surely get DUMPED ON We should be setting our sights beyond the confines of our town borders and looking to the province No matter what we as a town decide and how hard we as a town fight the dump it may well still become a reality When Fence Sitting Ruth and the province determine that the best location politically for all the citizens in the provm is the Acton Quarry it will be done What can we as a community do Well first let s stop fighting among ourselves work together and focus our energy on the province We know that a Private Members Bill can be introduced to fight the dump So why hasp t one been proposed What is our local MPP who is supposed to represent us waiting for Can It be that our local member who is also a member of a local environmental group hasn t thought of the idea Or is possible that he fears the wrath of Ruth Get off the fence Mr Duignan We can assure you Mr that to stand pat and do nothing will certainly get you the wrath of Halton Hills It is time Mr Duignan to stand up and defend the citizens who elected you and fight for our rights in parliament If it means that Ruth and Bob exlcude your from the in crowd so be it They did not elect you we did Let s dump the problem where it belongs and stop fighting amongst ourselves Community Forum Will you have a merry Christmas CANNON Yes I will with my first child on the way DARLLNL BROWN AC ON Definitely I have four kids to celebrate it with so it will be very special MARY I certainly will because my family will be all together Peoples Forum Community deserves better IAN CHRlCHlON Georgetown It will be alright because 1 11 have turkey dinner with my mother That will be nice Dear Colin Have I missed something When was war declared between some of our neighbors and our community Who requested such a drastic approach on our behalf Why is public debate now dominated by pro faruty and boorish behavior This wonderful community we share was built by neighbors who identified a concern and operated to build homes ches business arenas a hospital swimming pools and theatres In some ways their task was easier because they dealt in tangible needs and the levels of government they dealt with was not as structured as today Our contributions for tomorrow will often be intangible such as health environment family municipal development and our economy Our neighbors who undertake the leadership roles Sincere thanks Dear Mr Gibson A sincere lhank your support in promoting the Ontario Agricultural Museum to your Hills Herald readers We were to report that our season was most successful with a moderate in create in attendance We at tribute this to favourable weather conditions new events and your promotional support Coverage in the Herald helped to reach new audiences which resulted in many first time visitors to our site Your efforts regarding this are very much prec Thank you again for your pro motional support during this past season We look forward to work 1992 Yours sincerely Collins Promotions and Public Relations earn our gratitude and respect Their s is the task of changing existing laws and attitudes and sometimes stopping a specific project Their right to participate whether with a minority or ma viewpoint is well ed in law and precedent The right of their neighbors to expect efficient local government rests in the Ethics of the Participants Our elected officials have our legal and moral mandate to make the decisions required as our community deals with the com issues of the s Theirs is a difficult situation as there is always two or more viewpoints on each issue or there would be no need of a decision They are ask ed to consult and work with each person who voices a concern and then accept the consequences of their decision apathy when cor rect or scorn when wrong To the leadership and sup porters of the many groups par in building our tomor rows I offer these questions While my cause is noble and just are my personal words and actions as noble and just 2 Do we offer the dignity courtesy and patience we request for ourselves 3 As a leader or spokesperson do I confuse personal feelings with our stated objectives As a supporter am I pleased with both the presentation of and the substance of our objectives Recently I have been reading of a lot of nonsense surrounding the very serious issues of the day The community would be better served if acrimony and were set aside The goodwill and warm which makes this such a great place to live will better serve our goals A concerned neighbor Dave Public rippedoff I have just rcc from he Ontario Gov t the sixteenth annual report on election finances When I decided to run as a Libertarian in the Ontario election I was not aware that party candidates are subsidized by taxpayers money This is just one more ripoff of the public for political gain Here the figures North Name Party Income Expenses Subsidy Noel NDP 7924 Walt Liberal David Whiting Conservative 2949 8920 tarn 8258 11896 NIL Pat Green NIL J Shadbolt Libertarian NIL The politicians of the old line parties make certain they get looked after This is nothing new but this is a typical spending plan for own gain in Ontario Libertarians when they get elected will without any doubt cut this spending out Political parties should look after their own finances Multiply this hand out by the number of ridings in Ontario and you will have some idea of the cost 130 ridings We would like to congratulate Garth Turner on his stand on property rights there is no doubt that our government should not be allowed to take owning anything legal away We would also like to say Mr Turners stand on gun control takes guts in this day and age The Libertarian Party has a paper on violent crime which is well worth reading hank you John Shadbolt
