Police blotter 3 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday, January 26, 2010 Driver flees accident scene Halton Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle who failed to remain at the scene of a collision at Tenth Line and 10 Sideroad Saturday afternoon. Police say about 4:15 p.m. a vehicle stopped at the stop sign at Tenth Line and 10 Sideroad then proceeded through the intersection eastbound on 10 Sideroad failing to yield for an oncoming westbound truck. The driver of the truck took evasive action, and struck another vehicle in the intersection. There were no injuries. Police say the vehicle that failed to remain was a 2006 to 2008 black Jetta with red graphics on the rear quarter panel. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-8785511 ext. 2105. ··· A debit pin pad was stolen from a cash register at Shoppers Drug Mart in Georgetown Market Place about 7 p.m. Wednesday. An unsuccessful attempt was also made to remove another one. The two suspects are described as male, non-white, wearing dark-hooded sweatshirts and dark baggy jeans. The project consists of a 50-unit four-storey apartment building and three townhouses on the corner of Mountainview Rd. and Sinclair Ave. It shares the site with, and is attached, to St. Andrew's Church. The townhouse units will be set-aside for families in distress. Nine of the 50 apartment units will be offered at market rent while 44 will be offered at 80 per cent of average market rent (AMR) and six at approximately 66 AMR. Occupancy is targeted for June. Total budget for the project is $8.6 million said Barrett, including a $4.6 million Infrastructure Ontario mortgage with the rest coming from land donation, Halton Region contributions, and federal/provincial grants. Police report the owner of a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix parked between two other vehicles in the lot, then went into the school. Fire started in the vehicle and when firefighters arrived they found flames coming from the engine compartment. Flames spread to an adjacent vehicle when it ignited a tire, and damaged the headlight of a third vehicle. Halton Hills Fire Department estimates the damage at about $10,000. ··· Tools were stolen from a construction trailer on Commerce Court in Acton sometime between last Sunday and Friday. A lock was removed to gain entry. ··· Ice was thrown through the windshield of a vehicle parked at a Harold St. residence sometime late Friday or early Saturday. ··· Gang-type graffiti was spray painted on the water treatment plant in Acton near Prospect Park and the band shell in the park sometime late Friday or early Saturday.
