Clear off your book shelves for the CFUW's annual book/toy sale Georgetown Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) is preparing to hold its 39th Annual Used Book and Toy Sale on May 1st at Christ the King Secondary School. Every year it has used the proceeds from the sale to distribute scholarships to excelling Halton Hills graduates who are pursuing post secondary education. CFUW organizes the sale. However, it would not happen without the support of Halton Hills citizens who donate their used books and gently used toys, games, CDs and DVDs to the sale. Sorry, but CFUW cannot accept text books, encyclopedias, National Geographic, Readers Digest Condensed books or magazines. Please recycle these materials through the Blue Box or deliver to Wastewise on Armstrong Ave. From March 31 to April 28, collection boxes will be placed in the following locations: Shopper's Drug Mart in South Georgetown; EB Games on Mountainview Rd. in South Georgetown; Johnson's Real Estate and Georgetown Independent & Free Press, both in the Georgetown Market Place mall; Curves on Main St., Georgetown; the Georgetown Library; Herbal Magic in the Acton Market Plaza. Everyone is invited to make a contribution on behalf of the graduating students. CFUW members collect, sort and prepare the books for the sale. Each year CFUW relies on members in our community to attend the sale and buy from a diverse selection of fiction and non-fiction at very low prices. Children love to shop in their own section, "Kid's Corner". Teachers will find lots of books to supplement their classroom reading. What a great way to reuse what we have, to share great reads, and to support the graduates! Start your spring de-cluttering, and get ready for new bargains on May 1. 17 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, March 25, 2010 Free health seminar Your Leg Health: Varicose Veins and Venous Disease Treatment and Prevention will be held 7 p.m. (displays at 6:30 p.m.) on Monday, March 29.
