In Focus, April, 2010 4 Letter from In Focus Buds appearing on trees. The first flowers poking out of the ground. Squawking birds returning from their southern vacations. Cute baby animals exploring a bright new world. For most people, these are definite signs of spring. As for me, I know that spring has sprung when it's time to start sorting baseball equipment. For years and years now, I have volunteered with the Kinsmen Girls Softball League and one of my duties each year is to go through each team's equipment bag and make sure they have all the gear they need for the new season. So for me, the ultimate sign of spring is heading over to the equipment storage area and counting helmets, checking bat grips, dusting off catchers' gear and emptying bags of a season's worth of dirt and gravel. This year, spring came early to Halton Hills. Gorgeous weather last month drew people of all ages outside to play, work and just enjoy the sunshine. In this issue, we have photos of these early-spring celebrators as well as pictures from local March Break activities, music and dance performances, and fundraisers. We invite you to find a patch of sunshine, sit back and enjoy this issue of In Focus. As always, we want to hear from you. What are your signs of spring? What are your favourite April Fool's Day pranks? What sports are you playing this spring and summer? Do you have a photo you would like to see in our next issue? Let us know! Happy April! Unseasonably warm temperatures drew local dogs and their owners out of hibernation and to Cedarvale Park's leash-free zone. After being cooped up all winter, the dogs were very excited to get out and run around with their friends. And the owners were pretty happy too!
