Acton driver, 21, charged after fleeing OPP in Harriston An Acton man is facing charges after Wellington OPP spotted a truck weaving all over the roadway on Arthur St. in Harriston about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Police activated the cruiser's emergency lights and the pickup truck's driver refused to stop. The truck continued throughout the northern area of Harriston, then headed north on Hwy. 9. Police say the driver continued to ignore the officer's directions to stop, and soon left the roadway at a farm north of Harriston, into a field where the driver fled the car into a small bush area. Police gave chase on foot and soon located the suspect in the bush and arrested him. They noted the man had been drinking and soon learned the pickup truck had been recently stolen from the Neustadt area. Charged with impaired driving, having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, possession of a stolen vehicle and flight from police is Cody Stephen Wilson, 21, of Acton. He is to appear in Guelph court May 10. ··· More than $3,000 worth of construction equipment was taken from an outbuilding rented by a construction company on a Winston Churchill Blvd. property between last Sunday and Wednesday. Among the items taken was a generator, saw, chainsaw, battery charger and cordless drill. A door was forced open to gain entry. ··· A $500 log splitter was taken from an outbuilding on a Winston Churchill Blvd. property sometime between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. ··· The windshield in a vehicle parked at the GO lot in Georgetown was smashed with a rock sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesday. Damage is $400. ··· Two men have been charged and a 14-year-old male has been referred to the Youth Criminal Justice program in connection with a break-in at MegaCity Auto Recycling on Sixth Line early Saturday. Shortly after midnight a passing Halton Police officer discovered the break-in in progress and found three males. Entry had been gained by climbing the compound fence. A 20-year-old man and 19-yearold man are both facing break and enter charges. Police did not release the names of the adults so as not to identify the youth. ··· Police report four vehicles were entered in the Georgetown area on the weekend. Two vehicles were entered at a Sims Gate residence sometime late Saturday or early Sunday. Cash and Canadian Tire money was taken. An owner's manual was taken from a vehicle in a Weber Dr. residence sometime Saturday evening, and a wallet was taken from a vehicle at a Stockman Cr. home late Saturday or early Sunday.
