Lions to host food drive combined with weekend pancake breakfasts Georgetown Lions Club members will be going door to door over the next few weeks, handing out flyers, food bags and encouraging residents to attend a special Pancake Breakfast Weekend, April 10-11. "With the increase in demand at the Georgetown Bread Basket this year, the Georgetown Lions Club is `springing' into action," said Lion Jack Ruck, a breakfast organizer, adding this event is in keeping the Lions' motto `To Serve'. The Lions will be offering a full breakfast and joint food drive, 7 a.m. to noon, on Saturday and Sunday at the Lions Club of Georgetown Hall, 42 Mill St. (behind Memorial Arena). Donations can be in the form of food/toiletry items or monetary donations. Marian Viant of the Bread Basket says the food bank is currently very low on cold cereal, sugar, powdered milk, flour and coffee. The Georgetown Lions have been part this community since 1931, organizing the first Santa Claus Parade in 1933. Over the years the organization has supported such local projects as Georgetown Hospital, the Gellert Centre, Devereaux House, minor sports, and the annual Citizen of the Year. Volunteers Needed Get Involved and Help Build a Future for Halton's Past HALTON REGION MUSEUM The Halton Region Museum is a year-round facility located in Kelso Conservation Area in Milton. It promotes an appreciation for and understanding of Halton's natural and cultural heritage. Activities include: special events educational programs exhibitions facility rentals (e.g., weddings, corporate events) research services artifact collections management Volunteers needed to help with events, education programs, and the gift shop. HALTON MUSEUM FOUNDATION A registered charitable organization, the Museum Foundation was formed in 1998 to support Museum projects and provide an active volunteer resource base.
