Georgetown Bach Chorale's spring concert features Vivaldi By LYNNE BAILLIE Georgetown Bach Chorale The Four Seasons will be both the theme and the featured instrumental work of the spring concert by the Georgetown Bach Chorale on Saturday, April 10. The set of four concertos is probably Vivaldi's most famous work, indeed it is one of the most famous instrumental pieces of the Baroque era. The piece illustrates the passage of the seasons with the sounds of rain, buzzing insects, chilly winds with blowing leaves and the haunting cold of winter. Vivaldi's other work is often overshadowed by The Four Seasons but he was a prolific composer who wrote a great deal of choral music as well. The choir will perform a selection of Vivaldi's beautiful choral works, Lauda Jerusalem, the Credo and the Domine in g minor between each of the four concertos. In addition to the orchestra musicians, the choir is hosting the Kingsway Strings, a group of young players who will open the concert with Vivaldi's Don Quixote. The concert takes place at Knox Presbyterian Church in Georgetown at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for students and are available at Foodstuffs and The Freckled Lion in downtown Georgetown, by credit card through the choir's website, www.georgetownbachchorale.com and at the door on the evening of the performance.
