Folk singer joins choir for Earth Day concert The Gaudeamus Choirs of Halton Hills will be celebrating Earth Day with a special concert this Saturday, April 24. The choir will take the audience on a tour of the world through song. Sing of the Land, a concert for the Earth, will include songs from Japan, Ecuador, Angola, United States, Sweden, and of course, Canada. "We are so excited to have Canadian folk singer Katherine Wheatley join us as our special guest," said conductor Diane Murray-Charrett. "She is a musical artist who is inspired by landscape and the earth beneath her feet, so was a natural fit to come and sing with us." Wheatley will perform her own set of music and the children are excited to join in her song, Water Moves Me. The Gaudeamus choirs place a high importance on environmental stewardship, and love to celebrate through song the beauty and importance of the earth. POWER members will alsotalk about biodiversity and local youth participation in the International Youth Accord for Biodiversity. The concert, conducted by Diane Murray-Charrett and accompanied by Carolyn Maule, takes place 7 p.m. at St. John's United Church. Tickets, $15 are available at The Freckled Lion bookstore.
