Photo by Jon Borgstrom Music for Young Children founder updates parents on musical learning styles Music students and parents of the Georgetown and Brampton Music for Young Children teachers were treated to an enjoyable morning of musical fun and learning at the Georgetown Alliance Church on Main St. S. on Saturday, April 10. There they met founder and chair of the board of the Music for Young Children program, Frances Balodis. While the parents heard Balodis speak about the various learning styles-visual (learn by seeing pictures), auditory (learn by listening), kinesthetic/ tactile (learn by doing, touching), the children were guided through a variety of musical experiences in four activities led by the teachers. These included movement, dancing, games and singing to learn about a composer, exercising the brain, notes on the keyboard and music staff, and fun breathing exercises for better singing. The more than 120 children also participated in an ensemble rhythm presentation of O Canada, and the singing of the MYC Theme Song. Music for Young Children is a program for children aged three to 11, a keyboard-focused curriculum that, through clever merging of play and study, welcomes children to the joy of music and also gives them a seamless path to traditional conservatory programs. A helping hand in time of need, on that you could rely. No longer can we touch his hand, or see his smiling face. No longer can we hear his voice, or feel his warm embrace. But something we will always have held safely in our hearts; Our love for him, his love for us, will never let us part. He was always there when we needed him, no task too great or small. With loving heart and willing hands, for us he did them all. His golden heart stopped beating, his hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
