In Focus, May, 2010 4 Letter from In Focus "Any child can tell you that the sole purpose of a middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble." -- Dennis Fakes When I was little, I knew I was really in trouble when my parents particularly my mom put emphasis on all three syllables of my first name. When spit out with the right amount of anger and/or irritation, those three little syllables were like warning shots: I would immediately freeze in my tracks and wait for the big explosion. Recently, I made the mistake of telling my parents about the paralyzing effect that "AND-REE-AH" had on me as a child. Now they think it's hilarious to drop the name bomb on me when I'm doing innocent things like watching TV or getting orange juice out of the fridge. On behalf of kids and adults who still get nervous whenever they get "middle named" or whenever their name is said a certain way, I would like to wish all the moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day. And be sure to check out the winning entries from from this year's Mother's Day Photo Contest. Also in this issue, you'll find proof of just how generous the people of Halton Hills really are. We have pictures from an array of fundraising hockey games, fun runs, breakfasts and food drives, as well as shots of a handful of brave ladies who cut off their hair to donate to charitable organizations. As always, we want to hear from you. How did your parents let you know you were in trouble? Do you have big plans for Victoria Day? Do you have an event coming up? Let us know! Happy May!
