Cherished mother and grandmother of Edward and Maribeth Bird, Graham, Thomas and Katherine of Bright; Grace and Lee Whittington, Jennifer, Gregory and Christopher of Saskatoon; and Carolyn and Ming Kwan, Stephen and Heather of Sidney, BC. Ismey will always be fondly remembered by her brother Lloyd Kean and his wife Winnifred of Kitchener, and their children Myra and Philip Henhoeffer and son Ryan of Cambridge; and Emily and Craig Martin, and children Gwyneth and Declan of Breslau and by her sister Vera Packer of Fergus. Daughter of the late Edna and Gerald Kean of Eden Mills, Ontario. After growing up in the countryside of Eden Mills and attending G.C.V.I. in Guelph and Toronto Normal School, Ismey was welcomed by the Ashgrove rural community when she became the one-room school teacher in 1943. Teaching until 1951, she then married into the community and began to offer her creative and leadership talents to the Ashgrove Women's Institute, the 4-H Club, the UCW at St. John's United Church, Georgetown, and the Georgetown Fall Fair Board. Her warm, genuine nature, her love of family and farm life will always be remembered. Friends will be received at J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, north of Maple Avenue, Georgetown 905-877-3631 on Thursday evening 7-9 pm.
