12 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, July 8, 2010 Finally a Bra without Underwires! BRA FITTING EVENT hosted by GLT to begin work on fall show By SAM HANCOCK Georgetown Little Theatre While Georgetown Little Theatre (GLT) may have only recently put away the sets for the final show of the 49th season, the members have barely slowed down. The Georgetown Little Improv Club started making stuff up in preparation for their final show in September. On July 1, GLT officially launched their 50th anniversary season and celebrations. Members have been seen handing out info, painting faces and wearing costumes at the Big Daddy festival, Devereaux House and Canada Day in the Glen, and we have many more appearances to come. Watch for notices about upcoming events and check us out online at www.georgetownlittletheatre.ca for more information about how to join in our 50th celebrations. Today (Thursday) auditions begin for GLT's fall show. Today, 7-9 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 1-4 p.m. and Monday, July 12, 7-9 p.m, Georgetown Little Theatre will be holding auditions for the November production of Wait Until Dark, written by Frederick Knott and directed by Doug Feggans. A Broadway hit in 1966, the play was adapted into a popular film starring Audrey Hepburn as the blind heroine. GLT last staged this play during our 25th season and we're excited to launch our 50th season with this edge-of-your-seat thriller. The script calls for one woman aged 20-30, one young girl aged 10-13, and four men aged 25-40. The audition will consist of readings from the script and some improvisation. Call 905-877-3422 to book an appointment for your audition slot. Georgetown Little Theatre wants to thank the residents of Halton Hills and surrounding area who came out to see our 49th season of professional-quality shows at the John Elliott Theatre. It was a wonderful season in which we were once again blown away by the talent that our little theatre attracts. The season opened up with the rollicking melodrama, The Mumberly Inheritance, directed by Pam Niesiobedzki-Curtis. The cast had the perfect comic precision and timing required to transport us back to the music hall days of mustache-twirling villains and long lost brothers. Carol Beauchamp directed Mark Dunn's wonderful Southern drama, Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain. Darlene Flannigan won a Thea Award for Best Actress (Drama) as Betina Embree with Lorraine Cooper-Genkey winning for Best Costume Design (Drama) at the 2009-2010 Association of Community Theatre Central Ontario (ACT-CO) Annual THEA Awards Gala dinner on April 10. Mike Emson was nominated for Best Sound Design for this show also. The season closed in late April with Andrew Humeniuk's production of Joe DiPietro's Over the River and Through the Woods. The Independent & Free Press's Ted Brown said "Over the River and Through the Woods is without a doubt, one of the best GLT productions to date." Wait until our 50th season.
