Photo by Brian LeVoguer and up FLOWERS & PLANTS FOR THE GARDEN Hollow trail opens with fed cash Trails enthusiasts joined Mayor Rick Bonnette, Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong and Patrick Connor from the National Trails Coalition to celebrate the opening of Hungry Hollow's newest section of boardwalk and trail recently. "We have used the Hungry Hollow Management Plan to lay the groundwork for trail building, community involvement and environmental awareness as well as other sources of funding to make those things a reality," said Trails Advisory Committee Chair Jane Fogal. "It's great to see people getting out and enjoying this great natural area." The Town built the 1.8 m wide, 385 m long boardwalk on helical piers with two rest areas along with connecting limestone screening trails. It joins the other 4 km of ravine trails built since 2007. Funding was provided by the Town ($100,000) in partnership with Canada's Economic Action Plan (EAP) ($90,013) and the National Trails Coalition. Close to 300 trees and shrubs were planted in an area of the ravine near the end of Metcalfe Court through a community planting project.
