Everpure has recently partnered with Zuraw Technologies of Acton to produce biodiesel made from locallysourced waste vegetable oil, recycling this waste product into an excellent fuel for diesel engine vehicles, including farm equipment, diesel trucks and cars. Biodiesel is a sustainable transportation fuel and an alternative to fossil diesel. Zuraw Technologies has recently started full-scale biodiesel production, using 100 per cent recycled vegetable oil collected by the Everpure Co-op, as part of its "Local Sustainable Communities" pilot initiative. Waste oil is now regularly collected from more than 14 area restaurants. The Co-op is on track to recruit more restaurants to the project over the course of the summer. Zuraw Technologies has plans to Everpure Biodiesel teams up with Acton's Zuraw Technologies expand its production capacity tenfold within the next year, from 500 litres per week to 5,000. This initiative will generate green jobs in the local economy as Zuraw and Everpure strive to meet the regional demand for biodiesel, especially in the local agricultural community. Everpure currently supplies several regional businesses, drivers and farmers with a sustainable fuel, while it keeps revenue circulating within the local economy. The Co-op is in its third season of operation, and has more than 75 members from around the area-- which covers Guelph to Georgetown to Orangeville. Everpure now operates three area self-serve locations for driver members to fill their vehicles, and operates a bulk delivery service for larger customers such as farms.
