4 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, July 29, 2010 Police blotter Man charged with assault An Acton man was charged with assault after an incident in the Sobeys parking lot on Queen St. E. shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday. Halton Police say a man was driving erratically in the store's parking lot and when some people there confronted him about his driving he punched a man in the face. The victim wasn't injured. Charged is Eric Lavallee, 22. ··· Police are investigating a robbery on Mill St. in Acton about 2 p.m. Saturday. Police say a man was walking on Mill St. after leaving Leathertown Plaza when he alleges he was struck on the back of the head. He dropped to the ground and his black Gateway laptop and duffel bag containing Tylenol 3s, toiletries and other medication valued at $1,200 in total were taken. The man, who suffered abrasions to his nose, chin and a chipped tooth, described the man who robbed him as approximately 5'7". ··· A Georgetown youth has been charged in connection with several recent break-ins into area homes including ones on Charles St. July 7, Appleby Court June 27, Maple Ave. July 8 and Metcalfe Crt. July 14, while the residents were home sleeping. As a result of a police investigation a 16-year-old male is facing five counts of break and enter, 13 counts of possession of stolen property, one count of possession of break and enter tools and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon. "It was an important investigation for us to bring to conclusion due to the fact the individual was breaking into homes while people were sleeping," said Halton Police Det. Sgt. Murray Drinkwalter. ··· An Acton man was charged after police responded to the report of an erratic driver seen on Regional Rd. 25. Police located the vehicle on Roseford Terrace in Acton and arrested a man. Charged with having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood is William Rykaszewski, 46. Banner donation Halton Regional Museum Curator Linda Twitchell (left) recently accepted a 2010 Olympic banner from Town of Halton Hills recreation supervisor Frank Prospero to be displayed at the museum. Photo by Ted Brown Woman, 22, hurt in early morning car crash A 22-year-old woman was airlifted from Georgetown Hospital to a hospital outside of the region with non-life threatening injuries following a single-vehicle accident on Ninth Line about 2:46 a.m. Wednesday. Halton Police say the collision occurred when the woman's northbound vehicle left the roadway at Fallbrook Trail. The woman, was extricated from the vehicle by Halton Hills firefighters. She suffered a severely fractured femur and wrist.
