Between 1923 and 1927, 138 Armenian children orphaned during the Armenian genocide were brought to Georgetown's CedarVale Farm (now known as Cedarvale Park) where they lived, went to school and learned valuable work skills. Municipal, provincial and federal politicians, as well as His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos, and members of the Armenian community attended the designation event, which marked two years of hard work by the Armenian National Committee and Heritage Halton Hills.
