Beginning on Tuesday, August 10, the duo will perform Tchaikovsky's Grand Concerto No. 1 in B flat minor. Once hailed by noted pianist and composer Arthur Rubinstein as "unplayed", this warhorse has become the most popular concerto in the piano and orchestra literature. Musical Soiree Deux, on Tuesday, August 17, will feature Sergei Rachmaninoff's timeless and tuneful Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor. The grand finale will take place on Tuesday August 24, featuring two piano concerti, both in A minor-- Edvard Grieg's beloved nationalistic gem, Piano Summer classical concerts return this month Concerto in A minor and Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. The concerti will be performed on two grand piaKATHRYN nos, spooned together in TREMILLS Greidanus's salon, which help create an incredible intimate atmosphere that was often experienced in centuries past. Each program will also offer some solo pianistic displays, études of Franz Liszt and again Rachmaninoff. Music lovers can enjoy some delicious summer savouries following each of the performances. Eleven youth, between the ages of 16 and 20, will be travelling as members of the Canadian Youth Delegation to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity 10th Conference of the Parties in Nagoya, Japan in October. There, the youth will present the International Youth Accord on Biodiversity to the world leaders, which they created through collaboration with youth from 13 other countries around the world. The Accord is currently available in over 20 languages and is available at www.biodiversitymatters.org for supporters to sign. To raise money for this endeavour, GPS Ger of PowerHikes is holding a fundraising waterfall hike. Coined the "Beat the Heat" hike, it will involve climbing off trail through the Escarpment and visiting many waterfalls.
