Photo by Jon Borgstrom Georgetown Fall Fair opens Friday By LISA TALLYN Staff Writer Everyone is invited to come out and get a taste of farm life at the 164th Annual Georgetown Fall Fair this weekend. The fair runs Friday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Sept. 12 at Georgetown Fairgrounds. "It's heritage, it's education, it's community," said Nancy Comber, secretary of the Georgetown Agricultural Society. "Come to see your community, and it's an agricultural learning experience as well." This year's theme will be Ladybugs. There will be a ladybug farm in the Homecraft building near the Children's Centre, ladybug based crafts, and a ladybug scavenger hunt in the building so kids can search for them in and among the various displays. "Georgetown Fair has an excellent education tent," said Comber. She added there will be some new animals in the tent this year. There will also be a Children's Activity Centre in the Kid's Corral. Also new this year will be reduced rates for midway rides after hearing feedback from some fairgoers last year that prices for the rides were too high. This year ride ticket prices will be $3 each, or eight for $20. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. all midway rides will be only $2. There will also be a Georgetown Fall Fair Idol See FALL, pg. 2 School bus safety tips With kids heading back to school this week St. John Ambulance urges parents to teach their kids about school bus safety and offers several tips. Once they know the danger zone, have them stay clear · Be on time. The less of a rush your children are in the less likely they are to make a safety mistake · Whenever attempting to cross in front of a bus, make sure they wait for a signal from the driver before crossing. It is important they are acknowledged by the driver to make See ST. pg. 4 Vi s i t o u r s h o w r o o m $&+,//(6 0$='$ 2I 0LOWRQ 6WHHOHV $YH 0LOWRQ 21 /7 ; · your window & door professionals · 341 Guelph St., Unit 3 Georgetown 905.873.0236 www.buy-wise.ca info@buy-wise.ca · awarded readers choice 14 times · 3KRQH 3KRQH 7ROO IU )D[ ZZZDFKLOOHVPD]GDFD LQIR#DFKLOOHVPD]GDFD Quality & Service You Can Count On! 332 Guelph Street, Georgetown (Across from Canadian Tire) 905-702-0885 www.bathstudio .ca
