Photos by Ted Brown THURSDAY, September 9, 2010 United Way sets record target By LISA TALLYN Staff Writer The United Way of Halton Hills has set its largest campaign goal ever. It is hoping to raise $325,000 in its 2010 campaign that officially kicks off Saturday, Sept. 11 with a Community Barbecue at Sobeys in Acton. United Way executive director Janet Foster said they set the goal $25,000 higher than last year, "to reflect the growth in the community, the growth in need, and our growth in giving." The goal was also set higher to celebrate the United Way of Halton Hills' 25th anniversary which falls next year--when the 2010 campaign dollars will be spent. Last year's campaign goal was $300,000 and $306,000 was raised. Foster said the message is getting through to the community residents who work out of town to designate their donation to their local United Way. Foster said there has been approximately a 10 per cent increase per year in the number of people designating their dollars from their workplace contribution to the United Way of Halton Hills.
