Volunteer tutors needed now Why volunteer to be an adult literacy tutor? In the past number of years, there has been a steady decline in the number of volunteers coming forward to support local non-profit agencies in this community. Many of your local agencies rely on volunteers to carry out important work in the community, and it is quite often a struggle to meet the needs of their clients. Adult literacy is no exception. One in five adults need some help with reading, writing, basic math or computers. Please, if you have the time (and most of our volunteers work full or part-time), please consider giving back to your community. Literacy North Halton will give you the basic tools you need along with the resources and a public location to provide an adult student with a personalized learning environment. Through regular assessment and contact with our training co-ordinators, you will be "Opening the Doors" for another adult in this community to enjoy a fuller life.
