3 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, October 14, 2010 Jane Hyndman of Limehouse shows off some of her high visibility horse, rider and dog apparel that she sells online through her web-based company Don't Shoot Me at dontshootme.ca. "But what was out there didn't suit me. So I decided to design it myself." Consequently, her Internet-based company-- Don't Shoot Me-- was born. She now carries hunter orange visibility wear for horses, riders and dogs. The horses' apparel consists of turnout blankets, quarter sheet blankets and saddle pads. She even carries an orange fly veil to keep the insects off the horse's ears. For dogs, there are collars, coats and vests, all in the bright orange colour. For riders, she carries ball caps, riding helmet covers and vests. The response for her products has been amazing. "I have orders coming in from all over North America," said Hyndman. "I even get emails asking if I'm going to offer Western-style apparel, or suggestions for other products." Hyndman has most of her products manufactured in Toronto, some in the U.S. and others in China. "My customers tell me how much safer they feel when wearing the apparel," said Hyndman. "Even when they're riding on the road, drivers seem to slow down and go around them more slowly, just because they can be seen." Hyndman plans to expand her product line, and her customers are the ones guiding her. She regularly receives emails with suggestions and ideas for new products, and she says she'll be taking them into consideration.
