There were some beautiful outfits, and the colours and styles were very flattering this year. While I was waiting to write the column for this week's paper there was a very excited crowd waiting for the Great Canadian Coach to whisk them off to Bingeman Park in Kitchener to celebrate Oktoberfest. What a great spot to be on a rainy day. The New Members Luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26. We hope to see new members who joined the Centre since June. (You should have received an invitation in the mail, and we would appreciate a call to the Centre, 519-853-5951, letting us know if you are able to attend.) The Seniors Centre's board members will be there, ready to answer any questions you may have, and give you a little insight into what is happening at the Centre and our future goals. The joint Georgetown and Acton Seniors Dance is on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Acton Legion in the games room. It's not just for members; everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the Ü k ¦ ¦ music. This is our third joint dance, and by popular request the same disc jockey will be providing the music. He plays music that you can both dance to as couples, as a group, or socialize with friends while the music is playing. There are still a few tickets left, so if you are interested, tickets can be purchased at either the Acton or Georgetown Centres. For details: 519-853-5951. The Oktoberfest dinner on Thursday evening was a great success, with the room decorated in fall shades, and baskets of ornamental gourds decorating the tables. Everyone enjoyed the pork schnitzel, roast potatoes and red cabbage, followed by apple strudel and ice cream. Deb Misener Jones was terrific. She entertained us with songs, taught us to yodel and had us rocking in our seats. She even `trained' some of our members to help her ring the bells. Debbie's husband Doug Pawis won the 50/50 and the door prizes were beautiful plant arrangements won by Mary Walsma, Eileen Dix, Harry Van der Hayden, Bill Patterson, Gwen O'Regan, Sylvia Mitchell, Werner Heutschi and Pat Frizzell. At last our Internet is working, so members please feel free to use the computer nearest the counter to access the Internet for your personal needs. / #! 1/ ; #! ! 9 ÓeAþ ¦s 0AáìÓeAþ ¦Ü 0ì¥eAþ ²² Ó[n× A× ünÁ -Ó[n× An ªûn×nAá× 0 !Aá[¥ AÓ I ªûn×nAá× 0An !A¥þ ªªìÓ× áª [ªª×n |Óª 4" $Ñ0 íÔ¦âíÔo 0í¼oÔØâ«ÔoØ å 9 2$/ / à 0Ãc 4- të´¨åå´ 0ª n án × × AÓ áª ì×áÓA᪥Á !A¥þ ª¥n ª| A ¥e×Á On the backburner Lori Gysel & Gerry Kentner Due to space limitations in today's edition, the What's Cookin' column has been placed on the backburner.
