Santa comes to town Saturday Continued from pg. 1 The parade will follow the traditional route, beginning in front of McKenzieSmith Bennett School and continue along Queen St. to Young St. then following Young to Mill St. to Main St. N. to Knox St. before ending at Prospect Park. Spectators are urged to find a spot early for the best vantage point. Drop by Roxy Coffee at 6 Mill St. E. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Acton BIA's free photos with Santa. There will be complimentary hot chocolate and cookies for the children and Christmas cartoons and colouring while they wait. Hot apple cider is being served during the parade, compliments of MacMillan's Frozen Foods. Santa makes his arrival into Georgetown at 5 p.m. Saturday. The theme of the parade is Star Light Star Bright. There are approximately 75 entries in the parade this year. Bands taking part include Georgetown Pipe Band, Guelph Pipe Band and Halton Hills Concert Band. The Credit Valley Shrine Club Noble Riders will also participate. The parade route will be from Guelph St. at Sinclair Ave. to Mill St. to Charles St. to the fairgrounds. "This parade is in memory of Lion Elmer Lloyd who previously organized the parade for several years," said Georgetown Lions Club member and parade chairman Al Watt. Children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa Claus as Canada Post letter carriers will be collecting them along the parade routes in both Acton and Georgetown. Letters should be addressed to Santa Claus, North Pole, HOH OHO, Canada. A complete return address should be included so Santa can respond. Everyone who attends the Georgetown parade is asked to bring along a donation of a new unwrapped toy for the Salvation Army toy drive.
