Both are members of the Bearcats' swim team, and competed at a meet at White Oaks in Oakville. Merritt competed strongly in the 50-metre freestyle with a 31.04 time, while Gardipy did his personal best of 32 seconds for the 50-metre free. Christ the King Catholic High School Athletes of the Week are Haydn GaskillCadwallader and Mackenzie Rees. Gaskill-Cadwallader, a running back on the Jaguars' junior football team, was selected for his three TDs against Iroquois Ridge in a 21-6 win. Rees, who plays defense on the Jaguars' girls hockey team, was chosen for her strong defense at an Oakville tournament.
