The company revealed that Georgetown Chrysler Dodge Fiat, 336 Guelph St., is one of 58 dealers selected in Canada to represent the Fiat brand. "We received many very unique and promising proposals from our Canadian dealers," said Reid Bigland, president and chief executive of Chrysler Canada. "The enthusiastic and innovative concepts proved that they `get' what the Fiat brand is all about, and bodes well for the successful launch of the brand here in Canada." This group of dealers will be the first to sell the 2012 Fiat 500 (Cinquecento) revealed recently at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The company said Canadian dealers were selected to represent the Fiat brand primarily based on location and "proven sales and customer service expertise." Other Canadian dealers chosen to carry the 500 include Brampton Chrysler Dodge Fiat, 190 Canam Cres. Ontario Chrysler Jeep Dodge Fiat, and Peel Chrysler Jeep Dodge Fiat, both located in Mississauga. The Fiat 500 is equipped with a fuel-efficient 1.4 litre MultiAir fourcylinder engine. Production of the Fiat 500 begins this month. Fiat acquired a 20 per cent stake in Chrysler last year and has partnered with the North American automaker on several initiatives in a bid to turn the struggling company's fortunes around.
