The winners of the two baskets were Shirley Broostad and Gerry Kroezen. Joan Morris won the tearoom poinsettia. There is a list of winners for the penny table posted at the Centre and the people holding the winning tickets have all been phoned. We would like to thank everyone for their support. It takes a lot of work and cooperation to organize the Spring and Christmas bazaars and we appreciate all the help from members, friends and the public. The next major event the fundraising committee is working on is the play, Waiting for the Parade. We are looking for four ladies, ages 25 to 35 and are holding auditions on Sunday, Dec. 12, 1-3 p.m. at the Centre. You do not have to have any acting experience and Maianna will coach you. Mary Walsma introduced the board members, and our co-ordinator Wendy Krever. She welcomed Mayor Rick Bonnette, who brought greetings from the Town and congratulated us on our 15th anniversary. He spoke about the 6,128 volunteer hours our 123 volunteers worked during the past year, which helped make the Centre a vibrant place where many friendships are made. On a sad note, Marjorie Bartels passed away this week after a short illness. We will miss her helping in the kitchen with Friday lunches and seeing her at the various social events. Our condolences go out to her family. For the second year, the Centre will be open between Christmas and New Year. On Christmas Eve the weekly 50/50 will be drawn in the morning and the Centre will close at noon. It re-opens at 9 a.m. on Dec. 28 when at 10 a.m. we will have a Bing Crosby favourite Going My Way. Wednesday at 1 p.m. we will have Mingle and Chat sharing Christmas treats and reminiscing about Christmas past and looking forward to the future. We will close at noon on Dec. 31 and re-open on Tuesday, Jan. 4. The 50/50 draw was made on Monday this week due to almost everyone attending the Christmas lunch.
