22 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, January 20, YOU AND YOUR PET Domingo is the perfect gentleman dog of medium energy, great to walk and is a favourite of the dog walkers who have done many kilometers with him and find him happy and a pleasure to be with. At 102 lbs Domingo needs to lose weight for a healthy future, but when playtime is offered he responds by becoming frisky and playful in a manageable way. The additional plus of his love of walking ensures it should be fairly easy to get his weight under control with diet and exercise. Domingo needs an adult only family without children, cats have been deemed OK and he enjoys car rides. His former owner said that Domingo was fine at a dog park with other canines. Domingo is also a "talkHandsome Domingo is a yellow male lab cross, male, 5 years old. One look at Domingo caused the writer to "fall in love". Come and meet him and you will too! Domingo has many good points in his favour: he is housebroken, knows his basic commands and even knows the speak command. Domingo is a er" which should not be mistaken for growling. We have found Domingo a gentle and kind boy with our caregivers who always conducts himself as a perfect gentleman. Anyone interested in meeting Domingo call the Shelter at 519-833-2287 or e-mail adoptions@uppercredit.com. He is waiting for that extra walk! DOMINGO Stories by JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer Photos by Claudia Duijsens www.claudiaduijsens.com Pluto the Puggle has been on the move through no fault of his own Pluto is a beagle size (35 lb) three-year-old male Puggle (beagle/pug) with pug colouring. How can anyone resist this inquisitive, fun little guy with the really cute face? Pluto is housebroken, has his basics under his belt including a great "high five". Pluto is so good with other dogs at the Shelter that he has been chosen often to be their playmate... sounds good doesn't it? Not so when every one of those playmates have found homes and you have not! Pluto has not been tested with cats but is excellent in the car, requires any children to be over 13 years, as he is an active boy who loves to play ball and soccer to harness his energy. Exercise done he loves to curl up and cuddle and receive lots of "sweet lovin". Pluto proudly displays his harness when walking as his beagle heritage makes him "driven" and the harness gives more control over this feisty package. Pluto has been bounced from pillar to post, originally surrendered when his family moved; he was adopted quickly but just as quickly returned due to allergies; another fast adoption and again just as quickly returned because the small children in the family made him too hyper. This has made Pluto uncertain what is required and he shows his growing confusion with each change of address. Pluto has to have a family who would not give up so easily when faced with some challenges; be able to give firm direction and structure while providing ample opportunities for fun outlets for his energy. Call the Shelter at 519-8332287 or e-mail adoptions@uppercredit.com to meet Pluto. Bring your patience and be prepared to be charmed! PLUTO THE PUGGLE! Heard it's been done before, so I am taking my destiny into my own hands. I am handsome Claudio, a three-year-old male DSH, with clean, crisp beautiful black and white markings and nice conformation. Born in 2007, I had a home but my owner lost it and I was I was surrendered to the Shelter in May 2009. To say I was shocked at my new circumstances is an understatement. I was completely distraught so I was placed in a foster home to Claudio the cat who thinks and writes for himself adjust before being introduced to to find out what is behind closed intelligence and love of adventure more stress in the multi-cat living arrangements. Foster Mum found that in that home environment I blossomed and was found to be a special boy. They also found that I let my needs be known and I am not a "shrinking violet" but a proud, independent member of the feline species. They learned that I am very curious, and realized that is because I am very intelligent. They saw I love to explore and am inquisitive doors. They delighted in the fact that I looooove my catnip toys, and also the feathered ones that I can toss two feet in the air causing me immediate and utter excitement. They learned that play sessions with humans are also high on my favourite list of things to do. Then what is this? I've been back at the Shelter for FOR WELL OVER A YEAR so I could be adopted! Well adopted I am not, and it is becoming BORING! I feed my by becoming the "King" of Room, I feel a need to be constantly wary and on patrol as the residents need a leader. I was invited to temperament test one of those yapping things, showed myself fearless and plucky and was passed as being able to adapt to dogs, rather them to me I think! I would prefer an adult only family or one with older children who would respect my space...and see me for the lovely, friendly boy CLAUDIO that I am. My horoscope says 2011 is my year let's hope it is. Call 519-8332287 or e-mail: adoptions@uppercredit.com to meet me soon!
