Introducing the members of the 2011 HHAAC committee Here are mini biographies of the dedicated members of your Halton Hills Accessibility Advisory Committee (HHAAC). Ward 3 Councillor Moya Johnson has been our committee chairperson since its inception and has lived in Halton Hills for 35 years. Moya is a Registered Nurse who has worked in children's health care for over 30 years. The committee sees Councillor Jon Hurst from Acton as a co-chair when Moya is unavailable. We are all grateful for the assistance Kelly Withers provides the committee as Community Standards Coordinator, helping organize our monthly meetings, among other things. Karen Heffernan has lived here for five years and joined us in June 2008. For over 20 years, Karen has been employed in the community support sector providing supports to persons with disabilities and the elderly. Bill Leslie has lived in Halton Hills for 45 years and a member for over eight years. Bill brings a background in Management, Sales and Marketing and is a quadriplegic as a result of a neurological disorder (GBS). Chris Kenopic has lived in Georgetown since 1998 and a member for more than 10 years. Chris is deaf and is currently the President & CEO of Andrew Tutty the Canadian Hearing Society. Judy Fewster, a member for eight of her 14 years in Halton Hills. Judy has Crohn's disease, a hidden disability, Barbara Montemurro has lived in Georgetown for 19 years, six on the committee and is visually impaired. For 37 years she's had involvement in Wheelchair sports Provincially, Nationally and internationally and is President of the Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association and VP of The Canadian Wheelchair Sports. For 25 years, Maria Smorong has lived with Multiple Sclerosis and resided here for eight years and has been a valued member for more than 10 years. I will have more mini biographies next month.
