Arena users plan march to meeting Halton Hills arena users plan to take their message about the need for new arenas in town to the street Monday evening. Steve Highfield, VP Rep, Georgetown Memorial Hockey Association, sent an email to The Independent & Free Press this week publicizing a march of arena users from Mold-Masters SportsPlex to Christ the King Secondary School at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 28 in advance of a 6:30 p.m. special council meeting on the arena issue to be held at that school. Highfield said the march along Guelph St. will be positive, about 10 minutes long, and cross Mountainview Rd. where there will be assigned volunteers to monitor the crosswalk. He's asking every team-- GMHA, House League Select and Rep Team, Twisters House League and Rep team, Acton House League and Rep Team, Men's Hockey participants, figure skaters and Halton Hills Lacrosse Bulldogs to meet at Mold-Masters SportsPlex at 5 p.m. He's requesting marchers wear their team jerseys, make signs, bring banners and said there could be more than 4,000 taking part. "The message has to be positive, `We want new arenas'," said Highfield. At the special council meeting on the arena program, residents will be allowed to speak; to be put on the list call Renee Brown, 905-873-2601, ext. 2333 or email reneeb@haltonhills.ca It's not necessary to register to speak at the meeting, but it is helpful. A staff report will be available on the Town's website on Feb. 25.
