Huge kid cast working hard to bring Seussical to the stage An amazing cast of nearly fifty Halton Hills kids are hard at work in rehearsals for Seussical, the Georgetown Globe Youth Company's upcoming production. This kid-friendly musical based on the muchloved works of Dr. Seuss runs this March Break (March 1120) at the John Elliott Theatre in Georgetown. Narrated by the Cat in the Hat, Seussical follows the adventures of Horton, an elephant who one day hears a voice coming from a speck of dust. He soon discovers that within this tiny speck exists the smallest planet in the universe where the Whos live! Although ridiculed by the other animals in the Jungle of Nool for believing in something he cannot see, Horton stubbornly persists in his belief that they exist. Toe-tapping music and bright, fun costumes are sure to delight both parents and kids. Seussical is the third Globe Youth Company production and promises to be another smash hit. Their productions of Wizard of Oz in 2009 and Beauty and the Beast in 2010 received rave reviews and played to sold-out audiences. Woolford, a Grade 12 centre, had a pair of goals in a recent victory over Burlington Central and played well at the York University tournament. Dixon, a steady defender, also found the net in Acton's 9-7 triumph over Milton. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Madison Champ and Sam Bellman. A Grade 10 left-winger, Champ scored twice for Georgetown's girls' hockey team in a recent victory as the Rebels battle for a playoff spot. Bellman, in his third year on the Rebels' powerhouse swim team, will compete at next week's OFSAA meet in the 50m free, 50m fly and freestyle relay team after a strong showing at the GHAC qualifier. Christ the King Athletes of the Week are Rebecca Gardner and Hayley Kennedy. Gardner plays the power position for the Jags' junior girls' volleyball squad and was a key contributor in CtK's first-round playoff win over White Oaks. Grade 9 student Kennedy had a superb season on the right side for the junior Jaguars' volleyball team, which advanced to the Halton semifinals before bowing out to top-seeded Notre Dame.
