Fogal says parkland needs near arena must be dealt with Continued from pg. 1 "I'm appalled at the thought that we would do this without having a future look at how we are going to deal with parkland needs." Fogal said she wants public input before a decision is made to sell the Memorial Arena site. Bonnette said council-- the members who were present-- was unanimous in its decision to sell the Memorial site for the highest dollar. "I'm stunned that this council would decide to do that in that short order and that it would be a unanimous decision," Fogal said. "I guess I'm out to lunch one more time. I can't believe it." Fogal last week was the lone councillor to vote against the proposal to build three new arenas in Halton Hills. But both Councillors Dave Kentner and Bob Inglis pointed out a sale decision is not a fait accompli-- the recommendation directed staff to look at strategies and bring them back to council for a decision at that time. Town Treasurer Ed DeSousa also confirmed the Town has an asset selling protocol that it must follow once a property is deemed surplus. However, Bonnette said everyone in the in camera meeting was aware that disposition was the intent. All members of council endorsed the minutes with the exception of Fogal 3 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, March 10, 2011 Memorial Arena is slated for demolition as new ice surfaces are expected to be built during the next four years.
