`It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want-- oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! --Mark Twain This edition of Sideroads of Halton Hills marks our sixth year of publishing and in this issue we take our furthest trip from home as Glen Williams resident Don Ablett takes part in an archaeological dig in Turkey. Ablett, who penned a bird watching piece for Sideroads in 2005, gives a fascinating first-hand account of what a dig entails. Michael Schultz, another past contributor to Sideroads, takes us on a canoe trip along the Credit River. While the window of opportunity to travel the river is short, the cruise can be a delight. Dawn Livingstone provides another interesting trip down memory lane as she recalls the radial railway that once ran through our town, pointing out that an electrified rail line is nothing new. Our usual group of contributors return to offer you book reviews, mouth-watering recipes and other interesting reads. Also check out the extensive Calendar of Events for dozens of exciting events taking place in the coming weeks in Halton Hills.
