SHOP HALTON HILLS Sparkle Your Space When Shari Robinson opened Sparkle Your Space in 2005, she cleaned every home on her own. "I honestly didn't think anyone would put the care into cleaning the way I do, so I never wanted to hire anyone," Shari says. Before she knew it, she had more clients then she could physically handle. She hired her first girl and trained her to clean the way that she does. Now Shari has a team of nine amazing ladies who will clean your home perfectly. Sparkle Your Space specializes in thorough cleaning from ceiling to floor and we never miss a spot. Our professionally trained teams start by doing a full spring-cleaning of your home. They get your home as perfectly clean as possible and then maintain that "spring-cleaning look" on your regularly scheduled cleaning day. For the last three years, Sparkle Your Space has won the Readers' Choice Award for favourite house cleaning for Georgetown & Acton. "We all work very hard. We're dedicated and committed to providing our customers with only high quality service," Shari says. "We believe the results that we produce and the attention we put towards detail and perfection will far exceed your expectations. We want your home to sparkle. Our job is complete only after this is accomplished." Traditional Taste Bakery and Café For Kathleen Terencio, baking is a family business. For more than 60 years, members of her family have been involved in the baking business and Kathleen is carrying on the custom as the manager of Traditional Taste Bakery and Café. Traditional Taste sells a variety of fresh-baked European goods like pastries, cakes and breads, as well as custom cakes for weddings and special occasions. Kathleen recently introduced a new lunch menu that includes soups, hot sandwiches, cold salads, quiches and kebabs, as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options. In fact, the bakery is one of the few places in town to offer fresh-baked glutenfree products like cakes, cookies and muffins: products that are near and dear to Kathleen's heart. "I have a gluten intolerance, which is why I started offering gluten-free products," she says, adding that these items are available by order and in store starting April 1st. At the end of the day, watching her customers enjoy their food is what keeps Kathleen going. "When a customer comes back and says, 'The cake and pastries were amazing,' or 'lunch was delicious' makes the hard work and long hours all worth it," she says. The fun of hunting through the racks and the excitement of discovering a unique piece led her to open The Way We Were, a ladies consignment boutique located in downtown Georgetown. "I don't think there's a woman on earth who doesn't love a good consignment store," Val says. "It's a very fun, very unique experience." The Way We Were carries new and consigned high-end clothing, accessories and shoes for women of all ages, sizes and styles. Since opening in August of 2009, the store has been so successful that Val recently opened a second location on Main Street in Erin and is expanding the original Georgetown shop to include a second level. "The store will be much more spacious with more change rooms and less congestion," Val says. "We'll be able to offer more, including a gift boutique with unique and unusual items that can be purchased for your own home or given as gifts." With more than 1,000 consigners, new stock is coming in all the time. Val invites the public to stop by and see what The Way We Were has in store. "We're really excited about the changes and we're thankful for the support of our Georgetown clients," she says. White Rabbit Books When married couple Tom and Marilyn Konyndyk were thinking of names for their used book store, one option stood out from the rest. "Our last name is Dutch for 'rabbit on a hill' and Marilyn and I met in an establishment called White Rabbit. Plus there's the Alice in Wonderland reference," Tom says. "There were a lot of reasons, so naming it White Rabbit was inevitable." In business for six months, White Rabbit Books sells quality used books in a wide range of genres - from fiction and kids books to business and travel - as well as book-related giftware and reading glasses. The store is located in a beautiful old home on the edge of downtown Georgetown. "We like to say that our books are considerably newer than our location," Tom says. With free tea and coffee for customers, White Rabbit Books has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that encourages meandering, browsing. Tom and Marilyn's mission is to serve people who want to read books and they enjoy helping clients find that elusive title. "You can come looking for a specific book or you can come to browse," Tom says. "My daughters invented a word for it: they used to say 'Mom and Dad are going booking,' which is combination of books and looking." 98 Main St. S., Georgetown 905-702-7675 VAL LEACHMAN 126 Main St., Erin 519-833-0336 www.thewaywewere.ca TOM & MARILYN KONYNDYK 16 Main St. S., Georgetown 905-702-0316
