Choral Society marks its 40th anniversary with Hallelujah! concert On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the Georgetown Choral Society (GCS) commissioned A. Dale Wood to compose a special work. Maestro Wood, who took a sabbatical last year after 35 years with the choir, used this time very creatively, and presented the choir with a complete Requiem in the best tradition of classical composers. "Dale did not disappoint us" said GCS President Alyson Arsenault. "It is a beautiful masterpiece and we are all looking forward to performing it under his direction. Georgetown is very fortunate to have such talent right here in town, and I expect other choirs will want to perform this original work." The Requiem includes a haunting new version of Pie Jesu, The Lord is my Shepherd and ends with In Paradisum (duet and chorus). The choir normally performs two concerts a year, but this year, being the 40th anniversary they are performing four concerts, the first of which will be Spring Concert (which includes the new Requiem) and is on 11 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday, March 29, 2011 CARDS OF THANKS PEDERSEN, Jean We wish to thank family, friends and neighbors for the many thoughtful expressions of sympathy at the time of Jean's passing.
