24 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, March 31, 2011 Haas paces Blue Fins with four gold medals at Junior provincials Kyle Haas of the Halton Hills Blue Fins earned four gold medals at the recentSwim Ontario Junior Provincial Championships in Ottawa. Racing in the 15-year-old boys' category, Haas touched the wall first in the 50m and 100m freestyle, as well as the 100m and 200m backstroke events. He was also fifth in both the 200m free and 100m breaststroke. The Blue Fins finished 28th in the overall standings out of the 92 teams that competed at the Nepean Sportsplex despite sending just nine athletes to the provincial short course meet. Photo by Robert Copeland Minor Midgets celebrate OMHA title Georgetown's minor midget additional entry rep Raiders claimed the Jim Oakes Memorial Trophy as Ontario Minor Hockey Association champions with a 4-1 road victory over the Richmond Hill Kings last week. The Raiders won the bestof-5 final series seven points to three to cap off a playoff run in which the team posted a 15-3-1 record.
