4 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, March 31, 2011 Police blotter Arrest made in attempted robbery A Brampton man is facing charges in connection with an attempted robbery of a Georgetown Taxi cab driver earlier this month. On March 10 at about 11:40 p.m. a cab driver was parked on Mill St. when a man wearing a Halloween mask, and brandishing a knife, opened the driver's door of the cab and demanded money. The driver, who wasn't injured, didn't give him any money, and drove off. The suspect was last seen running southbound on Mill St. toward Guelph St. Charged Monday by Halton Police with robbery, weapons dangerous and wear disguise is Kevin Meehan, 24. ··· A Brampton man is facing charges after police responded to a collision on Tenth Line Thursday about 9:50 p.m. A vehicle had struck a fence. No one was injured. Charged with impaired driving and having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood is Avtar Singh Dhaliwal, 29. ··· Police report someone stole a 10week old female golden retriever puppy from the backyard of a Kingham Rd. Acton residence sometime between 8:30 and 9:47 p.m. Wednesday (March 23). The gate was locked. The puppy is valued at about $300. ··· A 1995 Plymouth van was stolen from the parking lot at Dahlia Convenience on Guelph St. sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday.
