Please sign Peter's Book of Condolences at www.scottbrampton.ca Price hike hits Acton Srs lunches By JULIE CONROY Acton Seniors Centre I am sure you have read the notice about the increase in the price of Friday lunches. I am sure you will agree that the lunches are great value. We have all noticed the increase in prices in the grocery stores. The Travel Desk had to cancel the trip to see Hats on April 21 due to lack of interest, but there are still several great trips planned over the next few months. Check the signup sheets including the trip in June to Orillia to see a show and a barbecue when cruising Lake Couchiching. Gals on the Go are returning to Mohawk for the races and buffet dinner on Monday, June 20. I have to confirm numbers early with Mohawk, so if you are interested, please add your name and phone number to the list. Now that spring isn't far away-- maybe-- there is a signup sheet for the joint Acton and Georgetown golf game at Blue Springs on May 25. There is only room for 36 players, so it's on a first-come basis. If you don't golf and would like to join us for lunch you are very welcome. Thinking of spring, our next social dinner is on April 11 when we will be celebrating "Tulip Time". Dinner will be a traditional Dutch dinner, starting with split pea soup followed by meatballs, mashed potatoes and kale and for dessert, stroopwafels (waffles with caramel in the middle) with ice cream and Boterkoek (almond filled shortcake). Stacey Kaniuk will be our entertainer this month. She sings smooth jazz, rhythm and blues and soul. She and her group have a gold record and two of their songs reached the number one spot on the charts. Still thinking of spring? We have our semi-annual Spring Fashion show on Tuesday, April 12. Tickets for all these events are at the front desk. Tickets are on sale for the joint Acton and Georgetown dance at the Acton Legion on Friday, April 8. Dust off the dancing shoes and pick up your ticket at either the Acton or Georgetown Centres. 11 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 At the Silver Creek School market Claire Martin of Esthetics by Claire, applies a sample from her Dermalogica product line to Ann Marie Wheeler at The Village Market at Silver Creek Public School showcase of businesses.
