Police say a man was driving northbound when a vehicle struck his car while passing him at a high rate of speed causing damage to his driver's side. No one was injured. Police say the suspect vehicle will have damage to the passenger side, and is believed to be dark grey, possibly a Volkswagen with tinted windows. It was last seen heading northbound on Mill St. W. in Acton. The Roundtable committee members and I always look forward to receiving a number of very creative submissions, and seeing the outstanding work that Halton students participate in throughout the year. The 2011 Regional Chair's Environmental Awards will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21 at the Burlington Convention Centre. Each year, the winning students are recognized at the Regional Chair's Breakfast on the Environment. Our keynote speaker at this year's breakfast is Geoff Green, a Canadian environmentalist and founder of Students on Ice, an award-winning educational expedition organization based in Gatineau, Québec. I am also pleased to report that this year we have a new scholarship called the Halton Environmental Leadership Award. Gary Carr This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in their school or community. The award winner will receive $2,500 for their post-secondary studies and a $500 donation will be made in their name to the environmental organization or charity of their choice Through events like the Regional Chair's Environmental Awards, parents, mentors, teachers, and business people are able to reach out and support our youth and nurture their interest in making our world a better place to live.
