Acton District High School Athletes of the Week are Nicole Merritt and Sarah Waldie. Both were members of the Bearcat swim team that turned in solid times both in the relay and individually at the Golden Horseshoe championship meet in Guelph. Along with Laura Lobelio and April Barnes, they finished seventh in the 200m IM relay in 2:34.34. Waldie posted excellent times in the 100m IM and 100m backstroke, with Merritt swimming well in the 50m freestyle and 100m IM. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Liam Clare and Marty Burwell, members of the Rebel junior boys' hockey team. Clare, a Grade 10 defenceman, scored the third-period clincher on a penalty shot that gave GDHS a 3-2 win over T.A. Blakelock in the final of a tournament in Burlington. Burwell, a Grade 9 centre, had three goals in four games played at the Wave Twin Rinks event. Christ the King Athletes of the Week are Emily Marshall and Zach Pearson. Grade 11 student Marshall reached the quarterfinals in mixed doubles along with partner Matt Metcalfe at the opening badminton tournament of the season in Kitchener. Pearson, a Grade 13 student in his third year on the badminton team, went 10-0 in Kitchener to take top spot in the men's singles competition.
