8 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, April 14, 2011 Local mom one of 45 named to Disney World Moms Panel By LISA TALLYN Staff Writer When it comes to Walt Disney World, Carrie Burrows is a bit of an expert, having visited the park annually with her family for the past several years. Burrows, a mom of three, has often provided tips to friends planning to visit the attraction, but now her expertise is being shared with a much larger audience after the Georgetown woman was selected as one of 15 new members of the 2011 Walt Disney World Moms Panel. The 45-member panel is an online forum at www.disneyworldmoms.com where people can get tips and insights for a Disney vacation from real moms, dads, grandparents and even an aunt who are passionate about sharing their knowledge with others and mastered the art of planning Disney vacations. "I'm loving it," said Burrows. "I'm really proud to be on the panel. I'm a kid at heart. I really love experiencing Disney. I love helping people." Burrows is one of two Canadians selected to serve on the panel for the year. Oscar-winning actress Geena Davis serves as an honorary guest to celebrate the new panelists. "This year's Moms Panel search generated the most applications we have ever received," said Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney World Resort. "The Moms Panel has become an integral part of the Disney vacation planning process. We deeply appreciate all that the panelists have done to help guests create magical memories with Disney, and look forward to what the new members will offer to families in 2011." Following an extensive application process, each panelist was selected based on their personal Disney experience and brings their own unique perspective to the table. Burrows, a fitness instructor who owns Georgetown and Acton Fitness Boot Camp, fields a lot of fitness and health questions on the panel because of her background but she also answers all kinds of other queries, such as "Tell me about the Contemporary Resort," or "When do the parades start?" The position is voluntary, and after her one year term is up she can apply to serve on the panel again next year. "I am really honoured to be on it," said Burrows.
