Local man running for CHP in Halton riding Tony Rodrigues of Halton Hills will represent the Christian Heritage Party in the riding of Halton for the May 2 federal election. The father of four said preserving family values is central in his campaign platform. "Family is the most important, fundamental institution in Canada. Without family we don't go anywhere." Rodrigues said he is running for the Christian Heritage Party because of its stance against abortion. Rodrigues said he would like to see Parliament support stay-athome-parents through increased child tax benefits, which could be done by decreasing public sector salaries. This will be Rodrigues' second time running for the Christian Heritage Party. He ran in 2008 and garnered 337 votes, or 0.5 per cent of the vote. He also ran in Milton's Ward 2 during October's municipal election. He's currently a school bus driver for First Student Canada. 17 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, April 14, 2011
