Quality Improvement Plan at HHS Quality improvement is an ongoing priority at Halton Healthcare Services (HHS). It helps us continually find new and better ways of doing things so that we can enhance care for patients, increase satisfaction and achieve even better clinical outcomes. In June 2010, the Ontario Government passed the Excellent Care for All Act. This legislation will help support hospitals to further improve the quality and safety of care they provide for members of our community. Every hospital in Ontario is now required to develop and publish a Quality Improvement Plan. Many hospitals in Ontario, including HHS already create plans based on local priorities. Quality Improvement Plans provide a meaningful way for our organization to clearly articulate our accountability to our community, patients and staff. Visit the HHS website at www.haltonhealthcare.com to view the 2011/12 HHS Quality Improvement Plan. For more information on the Excellent Care for All Act visit www.ontario.ca/excellentcare. GHF Has a New Addition Please welcome Nicole Hand to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation (GHF). Nicole joins the Foundation team with an extensive (13+ years) history in the not-for profit and charitable sector with a focus on fundraising and special event management. Although her career began in the arts industry (galleries, theatres and arts education), her introduction into healthcare five years ago provided many new and exciting opportunities and she quickly developed a passion for it! Nicole considers being able to work in a community hospital and raise funds for the betterment of all its patients a privilege and admires those who spend their days caring for others. She looks forward to building relationships in Georgetown and working with local businesses and community groups. Nicole is confident that her enthusiasm and love of her work will directly result in success for the Foundation, and is hopeful that patients, physicians and hospital staff alike will benefit from her efforts. The Big Chill is Back! The Georgetown Hospital Foundation would like to thank the Georgetown Firefighters Association who are supporting the reincarnation of the Big Chill in Georgetown to raise money for the community hospital. For those of you who remember the Big Chill, you will know that this was the biggest fundraiser of the year. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, the last time this event was held was in 2005 and it consisted of a dance at the Arena with bands, spirits, your neighbours in the community, and tons of fun! This event always raised a lot of money for local organizations. Tickets are $20 each with a 50/50 draw and door prizes available. All of the proceeds are going towards Georgetown Hospital. To purchase tickets please contact Rob Clark by e-mail to hhfd19@hotmail.com or call the Foundation Office at 905-873-0111 x. 8221. The Georgetown Firefighters Association is proud to help bring this event back to the community, so come out and enjoy yourself!
