With 212 of 250 polls reporting, Chong, the riding's MP since 2004, garnered 29,078 votes, to easily outdistance his nearest rival, Liberal Barry Peters, who collected 7,385. The NDP's Anastasia Zavarella was third with 6,034 while Brent Bouteiller of the Green Party was fourth with 2,989. Christian Heritage Party candidate Jeffrey Streutker managed 271 votes. A jubilant crowd of about 40 supporters cheered Chong as he entered his victory celebration in St. John's Anglican Church in Rockwood.
