The 13 planned repair or replacement jobs come with a total estimated price tag of $725,000, which includes a 10 per cent contingency. Additional facility renewal projects for 2011 may be presented to the board for approval at a future meeting. The estimated $725,000 cost for the projects will be funded from the board's Facility Renewal Reserve fund. The board receives an annual funding allocation from the Ministry of Education through Grants for Student Needs (GSN) to carry out facility renewal work. Such grants that are not utilized in a budget year are allocated to the Facility Renewal Reserve. Once the 2011 projects are completed and expensed, the total Facility Renewal Reserve fund available for future God Places to Learn and facility renewal projects will be $10.4 million. An estimated $3 million will be allocated to the board for facility renewal projects by the ministry as part of the upcoming 2011-12 school year GSN grants; that will leave a balance of $13.4 million in the Facility Renewal Reserve by September 2011. The only remaining 2011 Halton Hills project to be paid for through the Facility Renewal Reserve is concrete curb and sidewalk repair at Christ the King Secondary School at a cost of $20,000.
