8 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, June 9, 2011 Special Friends Day this weekend Police, those facing challenges team up for day of fun The Halton Regional Police Service will hold its 17th annual Special Friends Day this Sunday at Country Heritage Park in Milton. The event, which brings together police and physically and developmentally challenged members of the community, will feature an opening parade, games, crafts, entertainment, wagon rides and a barbecue. Special Friends Day was created in 1993 when members of the Halton police service met with representatives from the Halton District Board of Education, the Halton Roman Catholic School Board, Appleby College and several community support services to launch the event.
