2 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday,June 14, 2011 · Acton encourages kindness Everyone is encouraged to celebrate the kind of friendly community Acton is during Random Acts of Kindness Week set to run from Sunday (June 12) through Saturday (June 18). The Week, is a partnership between Acton BIA and other groups in the community and culminates Saturday with a family picnic in Prospect Park as part of the Big Daddy Festival. The event is an invitation for individuals, schools, community groups, service clubs, to join hearts and hands to celebrate the friendliness of Acton. Simple ways to reap the silent rewards of selfless giving include: · Leave a friendly and anonymous note or sweet treat on a coworker's desk · If you have something nice to say, say it · At a drive-thru pay for the order of the car behind you · Volunteer for a non-profit organization · Smile at a stranger · Help someone cross the street · Rake a person's yard · Return a shopping cart The list is endless. On Saturday, June 18 at 4 p.m. everyone is invited to come out to an old-fashioned picnic in Prospect Park. Each family is asked to bring their own picnic lunch (why not invite someone). There will be family games, face painting, food vendors, entertainment, first round of the Acton Idol Contest and a movie in the park for the entire family to enjoy. The Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study will develop an integrated transportation plan and associated strategies that consider all modes of travel to meet several road network challenges up to 2031. The Study will identify future projects within the study area. Throughout the study process, the Town of Halton Hills has been seeking input from the public through a variety of consultation activities, including stakeholder and interest group meetings held during the course of the study. One of the key communication tools used during the development of a TMP is the Public Information Centre (PIC). PIC's provide the community with the opportunity to provide their input at key stages in the study. The first PIC was held on February 10, 2011 to present and discuss the Problems and Opportunities, as well as, the background and purpose of the study. The second PIC will be held as follows: meeting the requirements of the Class EA process. With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of the public record.
