Gallery Doris Burfind My interest in outdoor photography began 25 years ago when I lived and worked in the picturesque village of Whistler. My husband Neil and I returned to Ontario where we settled in Georgetown to raise our two children. We regularly hiked on the beautiful trails of Halton Hills with our young family and I always had my camera with me. When I later became employed as a private educator, I purchased my first digital camera in order to keep up with the volume of photographs I took to record our days as we worked and played together. My favourite subject soon became children in the great outdoors. I was encouraged by Nathan Hiller of the Halton Hills Camera Club to join the club after one of my images placed first in PhotoArt 2010. Here I have become inspired and highly motivated to develop my skills, both with the camera and computer editing. Due to the club's continuous support, my photographs are now published in Obscura magazine. Photography for me is more than a just a hobby-- it has allowed me to connect deeply with the natural world (up to my knees in muck sometimes) as I seek out the beauty in the detail of living things.
